How I maintain my tan

I spent hours and hours trying to get a tan while I was in Spain and now that I’m tanned,  it’s important for me to maintain the tan that I’ve achieved, and to do so I make sure I do a few things that will help my tan last longer. If you'd like find out about these things, keep on reading!

One of the most important things that I try to get used to is cool and short showers. It doesn’t mean that I have to freeze while showering, it only means using cool water instead of hot water. The hot water can dehydrate the skin which leads to faster peeling, but cool showers maintain the tan. I also try to be more aware of the amount of time I use in the shower, which is an important factor  as well. After showering, you can also use a moisturizing oil to really lock-down your beautiful tan!

Exfoliate & Exfoliate. Now I know this might feel a little strange, because it seems like this is the last thing that you want to do to your skin when trying to maintain the tan for as long as you can, but it’s important to give your body a good exfoliation once a week. When you exfoliate, you remove dull & parched surface cells which is important for you skin. If you don’t want to spend a lot of money on buying expensive exfoliators, you can make one yourself with pretty much things you probably already have in you kitchen!

An exfoliator I really love is literally coffee grounds! If you drink coffee, next time you’re drinking save the grounds for later because it works amazing as an exfoliator! All you have to do is to apply the scrub all over skin, but make sure you do this in the bathroom because it can get pretty messy! Coffee grounds has lots of benefits and it's also pretty natural as well!

Another exfoliator is sugar mixed with oil. You can choose between different types of oil, but I personally prefer olive oil! All you need to do is to combine the ingredients in a bowl and apply the scrub all over skin. After you let it sit for a minute, rinse with cold water, which tightens the pores and improves circulation!

Moisturise. An amazing thing that you can do for you skin, especially when you want that beautiful tan to last longer, is to moisturize your skin often. By slathering your favorite body lotion or body butter every day on skin, you will keep your skin soft, tanned and smelling great!

I’m currently using a body butter from the Body Shop which smells absolutely amazing! The one that I’m currently using is Vineyard Peach, but they have many others you can choose from! I’m dying to try out the raspberry one that they have!

The other product that really helps me taking care of my skin and to maintain the tan even longer, is this body lotion from Dove. I’ve been looking for a product like this for so long and I finally found one that is amazing! This body lotion with self-tanners and cell moisturisers is supposed to give your skin a natural bronzed look and to maintain the tan you already have for a longer time!

And lastly, drink lots of water. Drinking lots of water in order to maintain the gorgeous tan it’s an amazing thing to do. When keeping hydrated you can help prolong the life of the cells and also smooth the skin which is vital for maintaing the tan for a longer period of time!
